What We Do

WHAT MOTHER OF NATIONS DO

Capacity Building

We aim to build the capacity of women in the target communities so that they are able to take responsibility over their lives and the lives of their families. We believe that capacity building is a great tool that leads to genuine women empowerment. This is mainly done by small and medium scale entrepreneurial training.

Some of the trainings provided are on improving their traditional handcrafts, sewing and micro-enterprise development. These further develop the women’s capacities towards self-reliance. Adult literacy training is also provided to support the capacity building efforts of individual women.

Training and Workshops

Community development training aims at the comprehensive growth of the people residing in that particular area or locality. MONAI provides community training opportunities that result in communities having increased knowledge, better empowerment and enhanced skills.

The training opportunities provided not only lead to a comprehensive change in mitigating problems, but also motivates lives, providing a better and well-connected community that fosters growth and development. This changes the mindsets of the people for the future.

Support and Guide Orphanage Activities

MONAI supports orphanages in Tanzania in many different ways; one of which is connecting them to donors who fund their operational needs.
An alternative way is by educating, coaching and guiding them, hence building in them the ability to be self-sufficient in all areas of their operations.

Educational Support

MONAI links communities with available educational opportunities and educational sponsorship opportunities that enable the communities to grow in intellectualism, professionalism and to in the long run eradicate poverty as a result of having an uprising educated generation.

Link Communities to Donors

MONAI not only works to identify and create different opportunities within communities, but also links funders and donors who are willing and able to support these programs and activities to the communities. It therefore ensures that the programs it initiates are carried out to completion in the target communities.

Community Sensitization

Sensitization on Child Marriages
Child marriage is being increasingly recognized globally as a fundamental violation of human rights. They can lead to serious ramifications such as school drop-outs, early pregnancies, maternal morbidity and mortality. Research has shown that community sensitization strategies such as information centres and exposure to mass media has shown an effect in reducing early marriages, early pregnancies and improved school retention. MONAI provides community sensitization in this area so as to play an active role in reducing early marriages.

Sensitization on Gender Stereotyping
A gender stereotype is a generalized view or preconception about attributes, or characteristics that are ought to be possessed by women and men or the roles that are or should be performed by men and women. A gender stereotype is therefore harmful when it limits the capacity of women and men to develop their
personal attributes and professional skills and to make decisions about their lives.
Gender stereotyping has very detrimental consequences for girls from a very early age reducing their aspirations and limiting their career options.
MONAI shall sensitize communities on this regard and shall educate them likewise on how to avoid and deal with gender stereotyping.
